3- Isle of Bighth (England) -
The Isle of Wight, which lies off the south coast of England, is known for its spirits and is without a doubt the most ghostly island in Britain. Many point out the "telluric lines" that cross the island to explain its high levels of paranormal activity. The energy of the Earth would travel in geometric configurations through "telluric lines" or "lines of energy". The Druids masters knew the importance of earth's energetic and telluric lines, because they built their holy places on "swirls of energy" or "sources of energy," where the leys intersect. Pyramids, standing stones, stone circles, burial mounds, ancient religious sites, etc. were built on these high energy points around the world. The enhanced energy of these points is supposed to increase the power of their sacred rituals, which are meant to produce supernatural results. Late masons, initiated to secret mysteries, build their own structures such as temples and churches along the vortices of telluric lines discovered by the Druids. It may not be a coincidence that the Druids, the pagans (who also believe in telluric lines) and Freemasons have been a big part of the Isle of Wight's history - even today, they stay there in great concentration.

Van Ley's lines have long been regarded as "spirit lines" along which spirits travel. Spirits / spirits feed on energy and the leys certainly offer a lot. With all this supernatural energy flowing through the island, it is no wonder that the Isle of Wight is sometimes called the "ghost island".

4- Norfolk Island (Territory of Norfolk Island, Australia) -
Norfolk Island is a small island in the Pacific Ocean and part of the outlying areas of Australia. It lies 877 miles east of the mainland. Because of the remote location, the British government, from 1824, used it as the landfill for the worst violent criminals. Thousands of convicts ended up on the small island that was described at the time as "hell on earth". Because of its reputation, the island quickly became the most famous British prison colony. Torture, lashes, murders and rapes were not uncommon on an island where guards were known to be particularly cruel. With such a violent past, it is not surprising that the island is now regarded by some as one of the most haunted islands in the world. An Australian documentary series called "THE EXTRAORDINARY" made a play on Norfolk Island in the mid-90s and interviewed some of its inhabitants about spirits and ghosts. A lady who has been living on the island for 50 years mentions that at least 50% of the population, just over 2,000 at the time, saw or heard a ghost. Even the most famous resident, the internationally acclaimed author Colleen McCullough, has had several encounters with spirits - in her own home. After earning her living as a journalist, Colleen spent nearly 10 years as a research assistant and professor in the Department of Neurology at the Yale School of Medicine. Perhaps this speaks to the level of paranormal activity on the island as a self-described skeptic such as Colleen McCullough, who is otherwise a member of the prestigious "New York Academy of Sciences" and is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science ", changes thoughts and becomes a paranormal believer.

5- Alcatraz Island (California, USA) -
Alcatraz is an island in San Francisco Bay and also the location of the world famous Alcatraz Prison. The island was first documented by a Spaniard named Juan Manuel de Ayala in 1775, but the site had been known to natives for thousands of years. Because of its location, the island was used by locals as a place of isolation for tribal members who had violated tribal law. It is even said that the Amerindians avoided the island by believing that it was inhabited by evil spirits. Alcatraz was already used in 1861 to house civil war prisoners and remained a military prison until 1933. In 1934, Alcatraz became a federal maximum security prison where the worst troublemakers from other federal prisons were sent. During its 29 years of operation, the jail has housed such famous criminals as Al Capone, LA's chief punk Mikey Cohen, George "Machine Gun" Kelly, "Birdman" Robert Stroud and James "Whitey" Bulger. Life was difficult in Alcatraz, even the dreaded Al Capone was cruelly attacked in the shower room. The brutal attacks were not rare, even the torture, because of the guards, would have taken place in prison.

6- Corregidor Island (Manila Bay, Philippines) -
Corregidor Island is located at the entrance of the Bay of Manila in the Philippines. The Spaniards occupied the island for the first time in 1570 to 1898, when they were captured by the Americans during the Spanish-American war. The island served as a first line of defense and prison during the Spanish occupation and was later reinforced by the Americans and became a military stronghold during the Second World War. In 1941, after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, they attacked Corregidor. On May 6, 1942, overwhelmed Americans capitulate to the Japanese. About 900 Japanese and 800 Americans / Filipinos died during what is called the "Battle of Corregidor". After their defeat, more than 3,000 Filipino and American soldiers were held hostage, starved and tortured. But in 1945 the Americans came back and tried to take the island back. During this bloody war called "Battle for the Recapture of Corregidor" more than 1,000 American and Filipino soldiers died while 6,650 Japanese soldiers also lost their lives. It is estimated that more than 3,000 Japanese soldiers died while they committed suicide, and preferred this option to surrender. It was one of the biggest mass suicides in history.

7- Deadman's Island (British Columbia, Canada) -

Deadman's Island is located in the Vancouver Harbor in British Columbia, Canada. Discovered in 1862 by John Morton, the island was the tree-cemetery of the native Squamish. Morton discovered hundreds of red cedar boxes hanging at the top of the trees and one that had fallen down, broken with a skeleton in it. The island was considered by the natives as a "dead ground" where bloody battles took place between rival tribes in which more than 200 warriors were killed. Many women, children and the elderly who were held hostage by the South Salish tribe were also slaughtered during the wars. Settlers continued to use the island as a cemetery and between 1888 and 1892 it became a quarantine place for victims of a smallpox epidemic and a cemetery for those who did not survive. In 1942 the federal government gave the island to the Navy and a year later it became and still was the location of the HMCS Discovery, a Royal Canadian Navy Reserve. With such a horrific history, Deadman's Island is not surprisingly considered to be very spooky with its first documented spooky dating from 1909.

8- Isla de Las Munecas (Xochimilco, Mexico) -
Isla de Las Munecas a.k.a. "The Island of Dolls" is located in Xochimilco, Mexico, in the heart of the ancient Aztec canals. In the 1950s, a man named Don Julian Santana Barrera made the small island home. Shortly after his arrival, he reported the voice of a girl who had drowned before playing with her two friends. It is after this horrific experience Don Julian dolls to start bringing his island, hanging in all the trees he could find to try to calm the girl's mind, and maybe even some old demons wander through the channel. The locals claim that dolls over time have been accused of the psychic energy of the girl and many that night the island have passed have seen the dolls move and murmur. In 2001, the guardian of the island was, Don Julian, found dead, face in the water, in the same place where the girl drowned. The locals say that his mind is now wandering in this place. A local paranormal investigator, Don Medez, who was interviewed in the TV show "Destination Truth," said Don Julian still against his cousin said he heard voices and water singing, but he was too scared to go. His nephew, Anastasio Velasquez, who took over the island and is now responsible for the island, told the truth-destination cameras that he had seen the heads of the dolls run in broad daylight and back up, then come back down in low. Still according to Anastasio, it's wise to take a doll with you when you visit to appease the island's spirits. As soon as a doll is brought to the island, he says, she will come into contact with hundreds of others. The crew of 'Destination Truth' did not want to take any chances and followed this recommendation when they were exploring Isla de Las Munecas for the night. The highlight of their research was, of course, when they captured the eye of opening a doll to the camera, just as they asked. Another dramatic moment was when one of the crew members spent some time in the old cabin and heard trail sounds on the roof. This island is without a doubt one of the scariest places on earth and Don Julian must be known for his incredible courage! Downstairs, Josh Gates, Destination Truth's host, witnesses the doll that opens her left eye while he asks for it.

9- Star Island(New Hampshire, USA) -

Star Island is one of the Shoals Islands, once the busiest commercial port in the Atlantic. Located in New Hampshire at 7 miles from the coast, it was installed by fishermen in the early 1600's. The story of Star Island is remarkable, from the pirates to the hidden treasures, it is perhaps not surprising that many claim that this small island is haunted. Sarah O'connor, curator of the island, was interviewed during a TAPS episode and she described in detail the different ambitions that she and others have observed in different buildings on the island. It started with 'Cottage E', a fisherman's house from the early 1700s. At the time of the Revolutionary War, a couple living in this house had a young child who fell from a cliff on the edge of the island and died tragically. Many people who stay in this house have reported that they are pushed down the stairs while feeling small hands on their ankles and backwards when they fall. Another house she spoke about was the 'Vaughn Cottage', which now houses the Island Museum. The curator has her own office there and she often mentions people playing downstairs and people who walk over her in the attic. She also spoke about a closed safe that sometimes opens and closes itself. Another haunted house that is mentioned is the 'house of the doctor'. Forty years ago, the doctor and his wife made a suicide package with a cocktail of pills. The next morning he was dead but she woke up. Justina Maji, an employee, claims to have seen a male figure walking through the room and crossing the wall. She also said that her friend who stayed in the same room a few years ago said she saw the same thing. Then you have the oldest building on the island, the Oceanic Hotel. Former employee, Jennifer Cook, said that one night she was suddenly awakened by the sound of opening several doors and slamming. It is said that the 4th floor is the most ghostly part of the hotel and guests and employees often report that heavy furniture is left on the top floor, the attic.

Among the other places that are supposed to be hunted on Star Island, the chapel certainly deserves a visit as it has been the source of many ghostly sightings. Many responded by hearing the song and seeing the people in the chapel through the windows, but when they go inside, they realize that there is no one. Another common observation was that of three younger sisters who died of Scarlett Fever in 1863 a few weeks apart. People have reported that they play near their grave. Spiritual ships are also seen and perhaps the most terrifying sighting of all, a black dog with red eyes that disappears as you approach.

10- Hart Island (New York, USA) -

Hart Island A.K.A. "Isle of the Dead" is run by the NYS Department of Corrections and unless you are a convict, you can not put your foot on it. Even the press can not have access, except for some visits that have been granted over the years. The family members of those buried in the cemetery can now visit under surveillance ... in a small gazebo near the dock, and that is if they meet the strict requirements that are needed. Oh, and forbidden territory is punishable by up to two years in prison! Of course, this does not help to chase the many mysteries around this small island, famous for hosting one of the largest mass graves in the world. The funeral on Hart Island began during the American Civil War. It served as a prisoner of war camp for four months in 1865 when 3,413 imprisoned southern soldiers were lodged on the island, 235 of whom died in the camp. The island then served as a quarantine station when yellow fever hit New York in 1870. A crazy institution of women was built in 1885, which still exists today. The island is home to a rehabilitation center for delinquent boys. During the Second World War, the island was handed over to the Navy to serve as a disciplinary barrack for the navy, coast guard and ship personnel, with up to 2,800 soldiers in detention. On several occasions, the Ministry of Correctional Services used the island for a prison. A tubercular and a rehabilitation center for drug addicts also operated on the island.
